A 43-year-old man noticed something lying on the side of the road which turned out to be his brother after a white van with high beam lights on went past on the Vuci South Road early yesterday morning.

“The van’s light was really strong hence I was not able to see any further,” Jone Tavisa said about his 53-year-old brother Lasarusa Seru.

Mr Seru on his way to work as a security officer with the Evergreen International Fiji at about 6am yesterday.

“When the van passed then I noticed something was lying on the side of the road. I reached to look, then I realised it was my brother.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said an investigation was being carried out to locate the vehicle concerned.

“We urge the public to drive safely and be responsible to other road users,” she said.

Mr Tavisa said his brother was badly injured.

“He was injured and I did not know what to do so I called Police and took him to Nausori Health Centre,” he said.

Mr Seru died a few minutes after arriving at the Nausori Health Centre. Mr Seru is survived by his parents and brother.

A post mortem is yet to be conducted.

Police are requesting anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 919 or their nearest police station.
