Marist Team To Beat

Deans Trophy Under-18 finalists clash in the semifinal showdown on Saturday.

Ratu Kadavulevu School and Marist Brothers High will feature in the main event at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka. Defending champs RKS thrashed Ratu Navula College 27-3 while Marist humiliated Lelean Memorial School 28-3 in their quarterfinal matches last week.

RKS spokesperson John Levy said the Red Fire brigade of Flagstaff should be the team to beat judging by the way they demolished LMS.

Levy said the Marist boys played better than their Lodoni opponents.

“We know we committed a lot of mistakes against Ratu Navula and we need to lift our game,” he said.

“The Marist players are bigger than us so we have to prepare really well if we are to match them on Saturday.

“They were good in all aspects of the game against LMS.

“So we need to be 100 per cent better because they are too good last week.”

As there will be a new set of players playing this week, Levy said the onus is on the boys to stamp their mark.

“In our pool game, we could not score  against LMS but Marist ran in three tries and this speaks volume for them. We are not pressuring our boys, it’s not about defending the title, it’s just for them to enjoy their game.”
