Sidharth Maharaj believes education is a process that you undergo everyday which must be stressed to the youths of today.

The Verata man, 20,  aims to share this message with patrons at the Hibiscus Festival next week.

Krish Amusement sponsored Mr Maharaj said education was not just pen and paper but everything that people experienced and wanted to explore.

“Everyday you learn something new. You become a student at times and also a teacher giving someone something new to learn,” he said.

“We live in a knowledge-based society and education plays a vital role in the communities today.”

Mr Maharaj plans to use the platform to remind teachers, parents and guardians to help youths understand what education really is and its importance in their lives.

He said there was a need to get youths involved in creating a better society.

When asked about why he joined the Hibiscus Festival, he said: “I really didn’t have much thought about being a contestant of this great event but my mum always wished to see me as a contestant.”

He said by joining the Hibiscus Festival, he was fulfilling his mother’s wishes and would also use the platform to learn new things and give it his best shot.
