Graduates from the Fiji National University – National Training and Productivity Centre were urged to work hard.

Chief guest NTPC acting director Peni Taoi reminded the graduates that they need to fill the gap due to the demand and supply of skilled workers.

“As we all know Fiji is distressed with a gap between the demand and supply of skilled workers,” Mr Taoi said.

“Such training will fill that gap leading to customers especially in the hotel and tourism sector to experience a better and improved service compared to the past and what it is today.”

He reiterated that the training was part of grooming students into professionals of the industry.

“I am confident your training has also equipped you with success in your career path in years to come. This will enable your families a better living and also inspire the people you are surrounded with to go for similar training and follow your footpath,” he said.

“NTPC has always been ahead of time in providing quality training to the work force.

“It has produced prestigious apprentices in different fields of study and has developed school leavers like you to embrace the real life situation of working in an industry.

Deputy Director NTPC Satendra Nair also said that it has been a journey that started with tentative steps.

“We all came together with a common purpose in mind-to encourage and develop lifelong learning in the young ladies and gentlemen who sit before us this morning.

“Steadfast, resolute and determined we all kept together.

“Day-by-Day we focused on our goal, keeping together and working together.

“We faced some incredible and memorable moments that we chose to use as stepping stone as we tenaciously pursued our common goals.”
