Team Fiji men’s rugby sevens captain, Osea Kolinisau is grateful that they have been able to train together with the women’s side in Santiago, Chile.

Speaking to SUNsports, Kolinisau said they have been able to exchange ideas and assisted the women in certain areas of their play.

“I really like mingling with the girls,” he said.

“We have helped them in areas like rucks and how to improve on their game.”

Kolinisau said it has been a while that this has happened.

“I think it’s the way we have been brought up. The girls do their own thing and we go on with ours. But I’m really happy about the way things are going for the women and I hope that it sticks like this for years to come.

Former England rugby 7s captain and TV commentator Rob Vickerman told World Rugby, that the Fijian women are capable of getting a semifinal spot.

“Australia, New Zealand and Canada would be odds on for the medal spots,” he said.

“But Team Great Britain, USA, France and huge improvers of late, Fiji, are all capable of pushing for the all important semi-final spots.”

Vickerman said some of the powerful nations don’t only have incredible skill sets across the whole team, they are able to add to that with some dazzling individual players who can create something from nothing – all with very different styles.
