Government MP, Balmindra Singh said yesterday claims made by Mick Beddoes about the 2014 eneral election had no proof.

Mr Singh told  a  Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights that Mr Beddoes needed to prove his claims.

The former Social Democratic Liberal Party member alleged the election was compromised in some sort of shape or form. Mr Beddoes claimed the outcome of the 2014 general elections was unfavourable to the Fijian people.

But the  Multinational Observer Group, which monitored the election had declared that it was a fair and credible election.

Mr Beddoes had questioned the polling processes claiming they were unethical.

“Polling stations were closed right after polling, officers and the Police were also enlisted out, why they did that?” he said.

Mr Beddoes claimed the phoning system carried out during the elections was unreliable and most ballot boxes were needed to be verified before the results was finalised.

He also claimed there was no reconciliation process during the election.

Mr Beddoes said he was willing to ‘swear an oath’ just to justify the claims he brought before the committee.
