More than 200 people have been screened so far by a surgical team from India.

Sahaydri Specialty Hospitals Pacific (Fiji) Limited director Professor Mannu Maunibhargav said people needed to take full advantage of the free screening services were offering.

“Our service is absolutely free and we are funded by the Government of India, and we would want as many Fijians to come to us and get screened for their own betterment,” Professor Munibhargav said.

“Majority of our screenings have been for cardiology patients wanting to ensure their heart status, but we want to ensure the lives of all Fijians.”

Minister for Health and Medical Services Jone Usamate said this was a great opportunity for all Fijians and urged everyone to take this chance.

“We all want to be healthy and healthy Fijian means a healthy Fiji,

“Being fit does not mean your heart is fit. I urge everyone to come and get screened once so you know where you’re standing at,” Mr Usamate said.

Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubouo and Mr Usamate were among those screened at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital on Monday.

Free health screening was held in Ba yesterday and will be held in Lautoka today.
