Swimmer Wants To Do Fiji Proud

 

Ra native Meli Malani said  the flag raising ceremony at the Olympic Games Village yesterday has boosted his preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Malani who joined the team late last week said, it was an amazing experience when Fiji’s flag was hoisted.

“As we know Olympics is huge and after the flag raising ceremony it just motivated us to another level as we try to make our country proud,” he said.

“It was also good to see the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama being here with us and supporting the team. Just being there with us has also boosted our confidence.” The United States based- swimmer who has maternal links in Tonga is known with for his aggressiveness, competitiveness and determination in the pool. He continues to excel in his performance, showing impeccable talent and always portraying a positive image and is well-respected by his peers.

Malani would be participating in the men’s 50m freestyle.

“Facilities around here are great, this is my first Olympic Games and this is also a very good experience for me seeing bigger sports celebrities and all the well-known athletes around the world. It’s a huge excitement for me to be here,” he added.
