Three winning contestants were given an audition for the movie Gangster to be shot in Fiji next month.

Reigning Bula Queen Grace Tueli and runner up winners Priti Pratishma and Shimal Singh were part of the event at Life Cinema in Nadi on Wednesday night.

“I have been looking forward to it. It was a good initiative to give us a piece of audition to be movie stars,” Ms Tueli said.

She said they were given roles and script to play in front of the movie producers.

“It was cool and they will inform us later this month if we have made it. We need this kind of initiative to promote Fiji internationally as well.”

This is an initiative of Dreamz Productions out of New Zealand which has also partnered with the Hibiscus Events Group.

Bula Festival trust president Leone Naivalu said it was a grand opportunity to be part of the production in promoting talent and Fiji internationally.

Producer Dr Rachel Singh said they had done filming before in the country and were overwhelmed with the abundance of pool of talent available locally.

Dr Singh said that the production house would also provide all the necessary training with almost 70 per cent of the cast from local talent.

She said the movie would be shot in the Western side of Viti Levu, including the back drop of of Ba and Rakiraki.

In a nut shell the comedy thriller movie plot is based on a girl whose family members were gangsters and the parents are looking for an educated groom to match her to.

Dreamz Production will release their film Feeling Lucky which was also shot locally and the production team is putting their final touches to be released on September 1.
