Fiji TV Launches Channel 2

Fiji Television Limited officially launched its second free-to-air channel yesterday.

Awareness around this launch started with an informal session at the Grand Pacific Hotel with advertising clients earlier in July.

Channel 2, is an opportunity for Fiji TV to also broaden its appeal to a much younger target audience through compelling local and international quality programming.

The new free-to-air channel will be available to all Fijians through the ‘Walesi’ digital broadcasting platflorm which is currently in its final testing phase.

Channel 2 is an exciting new addition to Fiji TV’s bouquet which currently includes Fiji One, a channel that has solidified its presence in homes across Fiji and the Pacific since its inception in 1994.

Furthemore, Channel 2 is expected to build on the brand and high-quality programming that Fiji TV has established over its 22 years of existence.

Channel 2’s portfolio of programmes will launch with the live coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, popular comedy series – Aunty Tala and Blockbuster movie – Thor, just to name a few.

The programmes to feature on Channel 2 have been carefully selected to bridge the gap for inspirational home entertainment. It is also wholly privately funded.

Channel 2 will broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week on ‘Walesi’.
