Kadavu has endured a lot of challenges in order to participate in the Punjas/Digicel Primary Schools Netball Championship which starts on Tuesday.

They will be taking part in the Under-9 -U14 grades and coach Unaisi Naimomo said despite the difficulties, they are out to have fun and learn.

“It’s been hard work throughout I’m just glad we are finally here,” Naimomo said.

“It’s quite difficult for us to prepare and some of the players had to drop out because they could raise the allocated amount of money required to come and participate.

“We all paid from our own pockets but we are happy we were able to bring over the teams and players that we could.

“Back home we do not have any proper courts and some of the players need to travel long distances just to attend training.

“But despite what we have had to go through, we want to come here and have fun and do our best in this competition.

“This is also a good opportunity for the teams to gain experience because development is what we aim for apart from coming together to have fun playing netball.

“Also, for most of the kids, this is their first time coming to Suva most of them are excited and we cannot wait for the competitions to start.”
