Late Tui Nadi  Ratu Sailosi  rests in peace.

It was a sea of black and white at Narewa Village yesterday as the late Momolevu na Tui Nadi, Ratu Sailosi Raimoqe Dawai, was laid to rest at the Sau Tabu (chiefly burial ground).

Hundreds came to pay their last respects to the soft spoken chief. The day began with a church service held at the Vatulevu Methodist Church.

Sheraton Fiji Resort hotel manager Ravindra Dhesi, in his eulogy, said Ratu Sailosi understood his people, their roles and responsibilities.

“Tu Sai was a gentle giant, always smiling, very soft spoken, and a man of little words,” he said.

“He was more of a listener who would give advice to colleagues and his people alike. The late Ratu Sai was well liked by everyone who came into contact with him as he exuded love and respect regardless of race or background,” Mr Dhesi said.

The Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, led the Government delegation to the ireguregu. He was joined by the Minister for Tourism Faiyaz Koya, Minister for Employment Semi Koroilavesau, Minister for Health Jone Usamate, Minister for Local Government Parveen Kumar, Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Vijay Nath, Minister for Defence Timoci Natuva, Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou, and Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau.

The Marama na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa, also attended, including SODELPA Opposition member, Viliame Gavoka.

Ratu Sailosi died on July 26 at the Lautoka Hospital following a short illness. He was 66 years old.

He is survived by his wife Bulou Vuta, five children and five grandchildren.
