Dr Vishwakarma is part of the visiting team Sahyadri Specialty Pacific Hospital Ltd Fiji from Pune, India.
“Women come to doctors at stages where very little could be done to help them rather than turning up early to the doctors,” she said.
Dr Vishwakarma was also concerned with at least 50 female cancer patients who turned up for free health screening at the Lautoka Hospital on Thursday.
“There is an increase in cervical cancer and breast cancer, and it is growing concern,” she said.
She also said the Sahyadri team saw 120 orthopaedic and cardiac patients in Lautoka.
Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou expressed his appreciation to the medical team and for the final performance of the Indian classical music group from Pune, India.
The team leader, Manu Munibhargav, said the joint venture of the Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation showed support and special emphasis for women’s health.
He said the Health Ministry along with the Welfare and Local Government Ministry were working hard to forward the super speciality expertise to needy patients free of cost.
