Serua fought back to beat Rewa 16-10 in round one of the 2016 Vodafone Trophy at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Given the short time to prepare, Serua coach Paula Nasara was over the moon with the outcome.

“I am just very proud of the boys and very happy with the way they played, it was a tough game and it really came down to the wire,” Nasara said.

“Rewa gave us a really tough game and they were leading throughout but the boys’ resilience really paid off.

“This is a real boost for us because we have not had a lot of time to prepare for this competition.”

Meanwhile, Rewa coach Alifereti Doviverata was not happy with the way his team performed.

“This was not what I was expecting and it is not a very good start to our campaign,” Doviverata said.

“We have only started training as a team for two weeks now, so we are hoping to get our acts together next week.”
