Suva created history by winning the Skipper Cup Under-20 competition after 15 years defeating Nadroga 26-24 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Coach Sakuisa Korobiau was happy with the performance.

“This is history for us after 15 years and we may be the first Suva U20 to win the competition,”Korobiau said.

“I thank the boys for a job well done. At the start of the week they have really worked hard during training and their hard work was showcased in the finals.

“They maintained their discipline and kept in mind everything they have been taught and asked of them and that alone is the reason why we were victorious today.

“But despite our win, we still regard Nadroga as champions because they have been winning this grade for a number of years.”

Korobiau said they will most likely retain most of the players in the team to play in the squad next year.

Nadroga received $5000 as runners-up of the competition.
