Newly-elected International Olympic Committee (IOC) Medical and Scientific Commission vice-chairman Dr Robin Mitchell (pictured) was impressed with how Oceania countries are playing the game fairly.

Dr Mitchell confirmed to SUNsports yesterday that they have received the anti-doping results conducted in various continents during the weightlifting qualifiers event while some continents had issues the Oceania results proved negative and were all clean.

“Other continents they were in weightlifting qualifiers had few issues from some of their region but we are thankful that Oceania was clean no issues,” Mitchell said.

As the Oceania National Olympic Committees president Dr Mitchell says, the main topic of discussion is the education and training for athletes and coaches to educate them on different types of substances and steroids.

“There have been discussions on the drug testing process. The importance of education and process of the drug testing programmes to athletes.

“Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (ORADO) will be coordinating this and their main focus now is the education, we are training people to be aware of these substances.”

Meanwhile, representatives from the various Pacific Olympic Committees gathered at the Pacific Village yesterday where they had time to mingle and catch-up on the latest development works at their island nations.
