Cakaudrove East Under-10 manager Epineri Bilo was frustrated with the cancellation of the Rewa Galaxy Kaji Rugby competition yesterday due to wet weather and heavy underfoot at the ANZ Stadium.

“I’ve to admit it was a bit disappointing because we have worked so hard to be here coming all the way from Vanua Levu,”Bilo said.

“The only problem is the weather and we can’t change the weather. But while it’s frustrating, I know the safety of the children is important and ground condition caused a lot of injuries to our players.

“They were not major but an injury is still an injury, so hopefully this one day off will help the children recover.

“It costs more than $20,000 just to bring the kids here and look after them. The fact the competition had to be cancelled means that our boys did not get enough game time to develop. But we’re hoping that being here and taking part will teach them something and help them grow and develop.”
