Kaiava Ravouvou is grateful after the Ministry of Education and Fiji Primary Schools Kaji Rugby agreed to cancel the competition at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Ravouvou said while the wet weather has put a stop to the three-day annual event they are looking forward to the safety of the children which should always be paramount.

“We’re just worried about the children’s safety so we feel the decision to cancel the games was the right thing to do,” Ravouvou said.

“The players are obviously not excited about the cancellation but kids will always be kids. They love the rain and they still want to play but we have to look out for them and make sure that they are okay and safe.

“We can’t blame the weather, we are just thankful we are here in Suva to participate and we thank God for his provision.”

A total of $31,350 has been spent to bring the Kadavu netball and rugby teams.

“Bringing 190 students to Suva has not been cheap with one student paying $165 each,” he said.

“But we’re not worried about the money, our main concern are the kids and their well-being.

“The rain really changes the way we play and our boys are not able to play to their full potential. But other then that, the competition has been good for us and we are just happy we are here.”
