Namosi has created history by having all their grades from Under-9 to U14 qualify for the Tier One quarterfinals today in the Punjas/Digicel Primary Schools Netball competition.

Their U12 grade was the only grade to reach the quarterfinals last year but this year was a little special with all the teams wearing new uniforms and t-shirts.

Team manager Roela Koroimarama said this year they decided to fundraise to get the girls new uniforms which has helped boost the Namosi team.

“The last couple of years we have been wearing the same uniforms and this year we thought that we needed a change,” Koroimarama said.

“So all the parents helped raise $3,000 to buy new uniforms for the children and I think that gave the girls a huge boost.

“Qualifying for the Tier One quarterfinals is really overwhelming and I am so happy and proud of the girls and the way they played.

“You could tell when they ran out onto the court, they looked confident even some of them are coming here for the first time and playing on a court for the first time compared to playing on the grass.”

Koroimarama said they are hoping to do well in the quarterfinals and is confident they will continue their momentum from the past two days.

“We are very happy and hyped up and the girls cannot wait to step out onto the court again,” she said.

“Our performance has been really good and we are hoping that we continue that winning form again tomorrow (today).

“I want to thank the organisers for putting this competition together because this is really great for the kids.”

The  Punjas/Digicel Primary Schools Netball competition continue today at the National Netball Centre.
