Historic Win By Our 7s Heroes

The Fiji Rugby Union board chairman Francis Kean said the win by our national sevens team will go down in the annals of sports history in this country as a heroic effort and lasting memory for all Fijians.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Kean said on behalf of the FRU board and management they salute our sevens heroes for this historic win.
“We congratulate Ben Ryan and the officials for their diligent efforts and the strategic mind games played during this Olympic Games culminating in winning our country’s first medal gold,” Kean said.
“The demolition of Japan and Great Britain this morning was a reflection of Ben’s strategy. We also thank the work behind the scenes of FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor and his staff at rugby house in ensuring that our national sevens team’s preparation continued unhindered resulting in the success this morning.”
Kean said they also acknowledge the unending support from Government.
“We thank our FRU president and Prime Minister for providing much-needed moral support to Ben and the team in Rio. We thank our major sponsors, Vodafone and its consortium for their continued support.”
Kean said they look forward to our national sevens heroes returning home and acknowledging this great achievement.
“To all our fans, supporters, families, friends and the rugby fraternity including the FRU council members we thank you all for your prayers and support,” he added.
