As the saying goes behind every successful man is a strong woman.

In the life of Team Fiji men’s rugby sevens winger Samisoni Viriviri, first was his mother Vika, now comes his wife Elenoa then their newly born baby girl.

“There are no more sleepless nights from now on as Fiji has won the Olympic gold medal in Rio,” Elenoa told SUNsports yesterday

“I thank the Lord for this special day. I must say hard work and sacrifice, late night sleeps and getting my husband ready for camp has finally paid off.

“Seeing the win today brought tears to my eyes as I hold my daughter close to my heart and kept kissing her because I know that my hero’s dreams has come true, which is to play and win gold in Rio.”

She congratulated her husband and the Ben Ryan coached-side for their hard work especially for not giving up when the things got tough.

“Before Sami left he told me that he was going to get the gold medal for our baby and there it is. A gold for our baby Rio as we have nicknamed her. Now I just can’t wait for the team to get their phones back so we could speak to our daddy. Finally, I want to thank my family and in-laws in Fiji and abroad for their never ending support and prayers.”
