PM: Great Day For Fijians

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama was the proudest man at the Deodoro Stadium when the Fiji men’s rugby sevens team stood on the medal podium yesterday.
“The boys have won the game for all of us,” Bainimarama said.
“They have been under pressure for a long time but now they have won it, we are going to celebrate. The boys have made us great to be Fijian, wherever the Fijians are all over the world, I think it’s a wonderful night, wonderful day to be Fijians.”
Bainimarama acknowledged Ben Ryan and his boys for a job well done, in creating history.
“I want to thank our athletes, it’s a great day for Fiji and a great day for Fijians, history in the making,” he added.
Bainimarama also acknowledged fans back home for their support.
“The boys have done it for us, first gold medal, so thank you boys,” he added.
During the final, Bainimarama was watching with the secretary-general of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland who also cheering for Fiji.
During the quarterfinal against New Zealand, he was with the King of Luxembourg Henri Albert Gabriel at the stands.
Bainimarama attended the weeklong sevens rugby competition and mingled freely with Fiji fans.
EMBASSY RECEPTION
After the win Fiji Ambassador to Brazil, Cama Tuiloma hosted the Prime Minister and Team Fiji to a reception.
