Suva Grammar School scoops the Under- 15 and U17 grades during the Fiji Secondary School Netball Association competition yesterday.

SGS defeated St Joseph Secondary School 23- 11 in the U15.

Team captain Kesaia Waqaivolavola dedicated the win to her late dad.

“We would like to dedicate this win to all our supporters, former students,” she said.

And for me personally to my dad, who died when I was in Year Four.

“It wasn’t an easy game for us because they were competitive and defensive.

“Last year wasn’t a good year for us because we were losing our games and today’s performance was just another new level.  Hats off to the girls for the tremendous effort and for making it through the final. We’ve improved compared to last year.”

Meanwhile, in the U17 grade, captain Matila Vocea was instrumental in their 15-14 win over SJSS.

“It was a good game, we had a tough encounter in the semifinal.

“I was really happy for the girls we changed the way we play and it was a big improvement compared to last year.

Meanwhile, in the U19 grade, SJSS defeated Natabua 13- 7 and in the Open grade Navatu defeated Napuka Secondary 16-10.

In the men’s competition, Ratu Navula College beat Sila Central High School 17-9.
