Schoolboys For Tri-Nations Cup

Forty six (46) players from the Coke Zero Deans competition have been included in the Fijian Schoolboys extended squad for the upcoming secondary schools Tri Nations Cup in Auckland, New Zealand.
The competition which will be played in October will see Fiji take on Australia and New Zealand.
Vodafone Flying Fijians coach John McKee said the tour would provide an opportunity of a lifetime for the 46 schoolboys to experience playing overseas.
“The tour is definitely a continued pathway as all of these boys aspire to represent Fiji in future,” McKee said.
“They obviously play very high level rugby here but it is also important to learn a bit about touring and what it is like to go to another country and stay in the different environment and prepare for games.
“So looking at the quality of games during the Deans competition, I think we are going to select a very strong team.”
With Queen Victoria School (QVS) winning the Coke Zero Deans after four years, McKee is impressed with the level of rugby shown during the competition.
“It was an excellent finale to the Deans competition,” he said.
“I saw some high quality games, especially the U19 game.
“I look forward to helping prepare the Fijian Schoolboys tour and of course some of the U20 coaches will be looking at some of the players from the U19’s game to join a wider training squad for the U20.
