Sisilia Seavula believes the experience she got from the 2016 Rio Olympics will make her a better athlete.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Seavula said she went through the 100m preliminary round and clocked 12.34sec but during the first heat she clocked 12.48s.

“It was such a great experience to actually qualify for round one and run against the best in the world,” she said.

“After the race it actually built my confidence that I can also reach that higher level of competition and that anything is possible.”

Seavula also acknowledged her family and friends for their support.

“A big vinaka vakalevu to my family and coach Bola Tafoou and his family for the prayers, love and words of encouragement that they have always injected in me throughout my years of being an athlete.

“All my friends for making me laugh and relax when I’m too tensed during my preparation period and all the proud Fijian supporters out there.”

Despite falling short in round one, Seavula acknowledged the Lord almighty for her achievement.

“We qualified to round one but we fell short. We still give the glory and thanks to the Giver of life for the results.

“My Rio Olympic journey has come to an end and this is a stepping stone to greater things ahead.

“My plan now is to qualify for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, World Champs and the 2020 Japan Olympics,” she added.
