Team Fiji men’s rugby sevens winger Savenaca Rawaca flew out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil yesterday. He was accompanied by trainer Naca Cawanibuka as details surrounding the injury he was said to have sustained remained sketchy.

This saw the Nadroga centre miss out on the last day of competition and was replaced by Masivesi Dakuwaqa.

Rawaca, who was not entitled to an Olympic gold medal after being ruled out, had played in all the pool matches. He came in as a late substitute against New Zealand and immediately got involved in a scuffle with Akira Ioane, which did not augur well with the team management.

Head coach Ben Ryan earlier told SUNsports that Rawaca was frustrated that he was not on the run on team and also he must understand that they are doing everything as a team.

Rawaca has been one of the stars of the national rugby sevens team during their back-to-back wins in the World Sevens Series.
