The Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Christopher Pryde, has sanctioned charges against a 19 year old mother for the death of her baby last month (July). Alesi Keretu of Varielobo Village, Navosa, is charged with one count of manslaughter arising from breach of duties contrary to section 240 and 241 (2) of the Crimes Decree 2009 and one count of failing to register a death contrary to sections 11 and 30 of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act. She will be produced at the Sigatoka Magistrates’ Court on 19 August 2016.
