Partnership Through Golf

Fiji and Korea will develop more partnership through sports in future.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Fiji Seong-in Kim made the comment at the Fiji Golf Club during the Fiji International Junior Golf Tour yesterday.
The Korean Embassy, Fiji International and Nabou Energy Limited sponsored the two-day event.
“Fiji and Korea are traditional partners and have been developing partnership in politics, economic, social, cultural and sports is the area which will expedite cooperation further in the future,” he said.
“A memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote comprehensive exchanges between our two sports ministries and capacity building is expected to be signed this year.
“The Fiji International Junior Golf Tour is the just a start of many more exchanges between our two countries.
“I was pleased to see Fiji and Korea’s young and prominent golf players through this event. I hope this kind of event can serve as the opportunity for potential players to exhibit their skills.
“Our embassy will strive to make similar occasion in the future through keeping close communications with Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Golf Association of Fiji,” he said.
The tournament began on Tuesday and ended yesterday with 15 young participants taking part.
7s Win Commended
Kim also congratulated the national 7s team for winning the country first ever gold medal in the Rio Olympics.
“On behalf of my Government and people of Korea, I would like to congratulate the Fiji rugby team who won the gold medal in Rio,”Kim said.
“I believe the final match with Great Britain well demonstrated Fiji team’s strength and grace,” he said.
