I Will Stand In 2018 Election: Tabuya

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Lynda Tabuya says she will stand in the 2018 General Election.
Ms Tabuya called on PDP members and supporters to back the party.
She contested the 2014 general election but the PDP did not win a seat.
She revealed that they wished to engage with more youths and minority groups.
“I just would like to say thank all the youths of Fiji who are stepping forward more and to be engaged and we would like to see the LGBTQ community, people living with disabilities, artists, and all those that are in the creative space,” she said.
“Come along and also participate as we would love to have you.”
Ms Tabuya is calling on PDP members and supporters to attend the national convention on September 24 where they will elect their leaders for the general election.
“We are the only party that elects our leaders through the general membership and we do not appoint our leaders which is in our constitution,” she said.
“If you would like to see change, please come along. Send one of your candidates to our party. Fight for your rights in Parliament.”
Ms Tabuya said they would also like to see an increased participation of women and youths in Parliament.
