Pacific Energy, for the first time, has teamed up with the Fiji Car Club with a sponsorship of $25,000 for the Shell Lubricants Drag Races.

The sponsorship will be for the remaining five races this year.

Pacific Energy sales/marketing manager Rajnesh Prasad said they are excited to support a good cause.

“There are a lot of drivers on the road who love to race but finding the right place to do it safely is the hard thing to do,” Prasad said.

“Recently, you see a lot of cars on the road and a lot of accidents, so supporting something which satisfies the need for people to go faster in a very safe and controlled environment is something which promotes road safety in Fiji.

“We have no hesitation in supporting this worthy cause.”

Meanwhile, an overjoyed Fiji Car Club president Raizal Haniff said they are excited to have Pacific Energy on board.

“Majority of the drivers in Fiji use the fuel from Pacific Energy as it’s one of the best fuels around,” Haniff said.

“We are glad and happy to be associated with Pacific Energy and out of all the sponsorships that Fiji Car Club has had, this is by far the best one.

“It is hard to run such a competition and this is a really big help for us. The money given will go towards organizing the competitions on the day and also educating people and create awareness about illegal street racing.”

The next Club’s Drag Race will be held on August 28 at Nanuku Aerodome at Pacific Harbour.
