Stallions demolish Malolo 42-10.

Pio Mua scored a brace of tries to help BLK Nadroga retain the HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.

The Stallions demolished Malolo 42-10 in the second challenge.

Team captain Sekonaia Kalou said it was a tough match and they must raise their performance for the third challenge against Namosi.

“We need to keep on improving because Namosi is a totally a different team,” he said.

 

What happened

In the fifth minute centre Eroni Vasiteri scored a try after a good lineout won by Manoa Tamaya.

But Malolo managed to score through hooker Semesa Ramasi seven minutes later, converted by fullback Timoci Ravuto to lead 5-7.

In the 18th minute Apisalome Waqatabu kicked a penalty to retake lead 8-7 but was sin-binned five minutes later for unprofessional play.

In the 27th minute centre Malolo’s Meli Qaniuci kicked a penalty to lead 8-10.

In the 38th minute winger Pio Mua scored for the Stallions.

Halftime: Nadroga 13-Malolo 10.

Nadroga came back strongly in the second spell with tries to Semo speed merchant Aisea Natoga, Mua, Vasikali Mudu and Alivereti Veitokani. Waqatabu was on target with his kicking boot slotting three conversions and a penalty.

BLK Nadroga captain Sekonaia Kalou said: “It was a good game and we knew Malolo would be tough. But we did what was supposed to be done and we did exactly what we planned.”

Malolo captain Veniona Vuki said: “This game will help us to prepare for next year. We expected the game to be tough, we knew that it was going to be hard.”
