Ratu Inoke Meets Bucalevu Students

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, on Thursday welcomed 26 students from Bucalevu Secondary School in Taveuni, who were on an educational tour of Suva.

Ratu Inoke also welcomed six teachers who were accompanying the students led by vice-principal, Savitri Shankaran.

The students were in Suva for a week and returned to Taveuni on Friday. They also visited the French Embassy, the Indian High Commission, the University of the South Pacific and the Fiji National University.

At the ministry headquarters in Nasova, the group was given a presentation on the role and functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The presentation was done by principal foreign service officer, Salote Tagivakatini.

The presentation by Ms Tagivakatini reflected on the role and functions of the staff at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, working with other line ministries and serving Fiji’s interests through the 19 foreign missions around the world.

“In our ministry, we have staff members who come from different backgrounds including administrators, teachers, lawyers, but we have a common objective as a team to support the Minister and the permanent secretary in achieving the ministry’s objectives,” Ms Tagivakatini said.
