The Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North Committee aims to raise $250,000 from the week-long festival which started on Saturday.

Festival president Tevita Ravulo  said they were positive about achieving their target as they did over the years.

“Last year we targeted 200,000 and we were able to exceed it,” Mr Ravulo said.

The Festival of the Friendly North over the years has been noted for their contribution to the Northern community with the most recent donation of a new exercise stress test machine at Labasa Hospital.

“The projects that we fund are community based, so all the people can have access to them,” Mr Ravulo said.

He urged the people of the North to come forward and be a part of this worthwhile event.

The Special Administrator for Savusavu Town and Labasa Town Vijay Chand said the festival has been an active part in improving the lives of Northerners over the years.

“Festivals of this nature provide the much needed impetus for growth, business and trading while contributing an economic spin-off within the business community,” Mr Chand said.

What’s on today:
Pacific Night and also Sarong competition for the contestants.
