Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola was paid a courtesy call last week by Colombian Ambassador to Fiji Clemencia Forero-Ucros.

Both Ratu Inoke and Ambassador Forero-Ucros congratulated each other on their respective countries recent successes at the Rio Summer Olympics.

Ambassador Forero-Ucros acknowledged the role of Fiji in the region and internationally. Specific reference was made to our role in the Group of 77 and also the United Nations General Assembly. She also expressed hope that Fiji and Colombia would continue their partnership multilaterally via such forums. She also hoped that Fiji would consider joining the Pacific Alliance.

Ambassador Forero-Ucros also expressed her thanks for the good work Fiji was doing in respect of climate change. Ambassador Forero-Ucros also hoped to strengthen trade between the two countries particularly in niche areas as well as improving air connectivity to the region from South America.
