Experienced Players To Lead Blues

Singh’s Rentals Lautoka will look up to their experience players during the Battle of the Giants tournament this weekend in Nausori.

Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said yesterday the senior players in his side were the key for each match, especially with the team having limited training sessions during the past week.

“The bad weather has hampered our training sessions and we were restricted to one training session a day and that was only during the afternoons,” he said.

The side has roped three youth players from their league competition, two of whom were promising reps.

Press Club youngster, James Pillay and Ben of the Rivals Club are two of the youth players who have shown potential and Kadar has a lot of faith in them producing the goods.

Who are they?

Experience will come from senior players like Jone Vono Jnr, Peni Finau, Josefata Duguca, Iliesa Lino, Iliesa Tuilau, Valerio Nawatu and Zibraaz Sahib.

Kadar said they have not yet decided who will captain the Blues side.

The team will go into camp today  and will likely to leave for Nausori either by midday tomorrow or early Friday morning.

Kadar said the team are not making any predictions on their chances but would be treating each match as if it was the final.

“Our focus during the pool matches would be to reach the semifinal,” he said.

Lautoka’s first match is against Labasa at 5.30pm on Friday.
