Team Fiji men’s rugby sevens forwards Semi Kunatani and Leone Nakarawa arrive home today after they missed their flight last Friday due to delay in clearing of their passports.

The duo and team manager Ropate Kauvesi departed the Olympic Games Village early Monday morning for a five hour drive to Sao Paolo to catch a flight to Buenos Aires and then Auckland and finally Nadi.

Despite missing out on the national celebrations in Suva, the duo were glad to accompany javelin thrower Leslie Copeland, coach James Goulding and assistant chef de mission Wayne O’Conner to the closing ceremony at the Maracana Stadium.

“We are glad to be heading home,” said Kauvesi whose suitcase had already been taken by the first contingent on Friday.

“I have to be in France on August 29th,” said Kunatani. Both have French contracts to honour and the stay in Fiji will be brief.

Copeland, Goulding and O’Conner fly home on Tuesday and will arrive on Thursday”.
