A series of visits to the Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday signified Fiji’s continuous reputation in assisting small island nations as well as building the growing relationship with our neighbours.

As such for the next two weeks Inspector (IP) Anaselina Ioane from the Kiribati National Police will be on attachment with the Fiji Police’s Academy to learn about the recruitment process and programmes currently underway.

The attachment is being facilitated by the Pacific Island Chiefs of Police Secretariat and accompanying IP Ioane was their representative Inspector Kevin Kneebone who also took the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police.

Also paying a courtesy visit on the Commissioner was Inspector Pete Jones of the New Zealand Police in his capacity as the newly appointed liaison officer for the Pacific.

Later this week the Fiji Police Force will be hosting a delegation from the Nauru Police Force who will also be learning about the recruitment process and programmes currently underway at the Fiji Police Academy.

Both of the visits is an outcome of the Fiji Police’s current Memorandum of Understanding signed between Fiji and Kiribati as well as with the Nauru Police Force in areas of Police co-operation.

Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho said as a nation Fiji was proud of its achievements as the hub of the Pacific, and was always ready to assist neighbouring small island nations.

He reiterated his appreciation to the New Zealand Police for the ongoing support towards the Fiji Police Force.
