Police Reiterate Safety For Northern Division During Gold Celebrations
Celebrations

With just less than 24 hours for the Northern Division to host the Olympic Gold medal winning 7s team, the Fiji Police Force is again reiterating the need to prioritize safety at all times.

We are working together with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Corrections Services to ensure an incident free celebrations.

We are hoping to avoid one of the main issues of concern noted during the celebrations in both Nadi and Suva whereby children were separated from their parents and guardians.

While we do understand the hype of the celebrations can be overwhelming at times, please be mindful of your responsibilities as adults and ensure those under your care are being looked after at all times.

We are also asking members of the public to be mindful of their own safety as there were instances where people were physically trying to stop the procession and this is of course a safety issue.

Also with the waving of flags from moving vehicles, please understand that this is also a safety threat. We are also requesting Public Service Vehicle providers to assist us in monitoring the issue for the sake of not only their passengers but other road users as well.

As homes are expected to be vacant with families attending the celebrations, please ensure all properties are safely secured and do take time to check all potential fire threats. Again taking an extra 5 to 10 minutes to thoroughly check on these things can save your property.

veryone’s cooperation will again see to an incident free celebration.
