Alisi Ravosa of Lami has two sons, but no daughter.

She has always wanted a girl.

Yesterday, her eyes lit up when she read the story of the two abandoned baby girls in the Fiji Sun.

She said: “I’ve always wanted a daughter and I’m always lonely at home when my husband and two boys are away in school.

“I have been praying to have a baby girl for a very long time and I believe this is God’s time for us.”

She joined many people who contacted the Fiji Sun expressing their interest to adopt the babies.

Mrs Ravosa, 46, said her greatest desire was making the infants become part of their family.

For seven years they had tried in vain to adopt a girl, she said.

“In 2010, I went with my husband to Dilkusha Home and the Social Welfare hoping if we could adopt a child,” she said.

“But due to the long process of paperwork, we did not continue our pursuit.”

He eldest son is 23 and youngest is 13.

She said her husband who is employed at the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces was ready to financially support the two infants.

“When I had my second child, I decided to become a stay-at-home mum to give my son full attention and install values at a young age,” she said.

“My family has seen the difference between raising a child while at work and staying at home to raise them.”

Mrs Ravosa and her husband will be travelling to the Social Welfare office tomorrow to fill out the necessary requirements for adoption.

The two baby girls, 18-days-old and seven-days-old, were abandoned at the Morrison Maternity Unit of the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva. Their mothers walked away after they were born.
