Guangdong Silkroad Ark Investment (Fiji) Company Limited, a Chinese company, says it plans to invest in two projects in Fiji.

The first is the Wyndham Silkroad Ark Hotel Fiji project which will see the construction of a resort near Komave Village on the Coral Coast.

An earlier agreement will see the resort being managed by the Wyndham Hotel Group.

Guangdong Silkroad Ark Investment  is the same group which our Government representatives have met in China and subsequently in Fiji.

Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, has also commented on this project and has met the investors personally.

Guangdong Silkroad Ark Investment general manager, Houlin Li, confirmed the Coral Coast project will be launched on Tuesday with a groundbreaking. Construction will then begin.

The resort property is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, he said.

Mr Houlin said the second project is the high-end residence and South Pacific Commodity Exchange Center project in Suva that is still in the pipeline.

 

Resort project

The company will be injecting 1.8 billion RMB (FJ$550 million) in the hotel project along the coral coast area which will create employment opportunities for 1000 Fijians.

Mr Houlin said the total plot area of this project is 165 acres and is in the process of phase one.

He said they believe this project is going to extremely promote the demands of the traditional art and crafts, agricultural and sideline products from surrounding villages.

With a 1300-metre coastline and 180° sea view, the investor plans to build about 370 hotel rooms (villa or apartments).

Mr Houlin said the resort will be equipped with many luxurious facilities, such as water chalets, coast clubhouse, gym, Fusion Restaurant & Cafe, infinity swimming pool, featured pool water bar.

 

Photography company

To add more colour to this hotel project, the company will be adding in Guangdong Sese Wedding Photography Company Limited to build a large-scale “Overseas Photography Base”.

Mr Houlin said this company will the best wedding photography service from China with uniquely local nature and cultural landscape.

“The project will bring special experience of wedding customs from both China and Fiji,” he added.

“As well as a series of high-level customising services including travel photography, wedding planning and honeymoon vacation to global customers.”

The company was founded in 2010 in Guangzhou.

Mr Houlin said the company is a comprehensive investment group which mainly engages in investment in cultural industry investment and development of real estate for cultural and commercial purpose.

“The investment of Silkroad Ark covers a multitude of fields such as cultural real estate development, cultural tourism, entertaining shows to Internet industry, trade and investment of artwork.”

Mr Houlin added the Guangdong Silkroad Ark Investment Company Limited is optimistic about Fiji’s tourism and the great demand of hotel.

This was since President Xi Jinping and secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Hu Chunhua respectively visited Fiji on November 14, 2014 and June 2015.

The Guangdong Silkroad Ark Investment Company (Fiji) Limited was registered in July, 2015.
