The HFC Bank is planning on launching a prepaid foreign currency travel card in this financial year.

The newly-appointed chief executive, Ross Munn, confirmed this to the Fiji Sun during a Customer Cocktail at the Holiday Inn Suva on Thursday night.

Mr Munn said they would also be launching their debit and credit cards.

“We are currently working on this. So far no one offers a travel card here so this will be new for the market,” he said.

“We will start off with a travel card first, debit card second and credit card third.”

Mr Munn said everywhere he goes here, people are travelling.

“This is the most travelled nation I have been to in my life,” he said.

Mr Munn said people want to spend their own money when they travel with credit cards.

“So we want to have some sort of prepaid foreign currency card,” he said.

“People will have to come and physically buy it from us, loaded up with foreign currency and off you go and spend it.

Mr Munn said these cards will work in the ATM around the world too and would be made available to the people here.

“It would limit only to the amount of foreign currency people are allowed to take out of the country legally,” he said.

Other changes

Meanwhile, Mr Munn added the HFC Bank is going through changes with IT, core banking systems, product development etcetera.

“We have two branches moving inside the Suva corridor which we are excited about,” he added.

“I have also done some sales and service training with my people and we have got more to do.”
