Lautoka put on an impressive performance on day one of the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament (B.O.G) beating Labasa 4-2 in the Pool B match yesterday at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

What happened: Goals by Mohamed Sazeel, Valerio Nawatu and Peni Finau gave Lautoka a perfect start.

Lautoka took advantage of 10-man Labasa side as they reign supreme in the match after. Labasa’s Christopher Wasasala was red carded for foul play.

Lautoka led 1-0 at halftime after Valerio Nawatu scored. Lautoka had possession, they punished Labasa scoring three more goals in the second half.

Twenty-year old Sazeel scored two classic goals before veteran Finau rounded off another spectacular goal with his powerful shot inside the box.

Leone Damudamu and Gabriel Matanisiga scored for Labasa.

Star turn: Sazeel played a good match for the Blues and is a player to watch in the tournament as he is a talented striker.

Big play: Finau made a huge impact as he scored the crucial goal for Lautoka.

Lautoka coach Anginesh Prasad said: “We are serious about winning the tournament and the big win is the clear indication.

“We are positive that we will win the tournament as we are taking our games seriously.”

Labasa coach Ravinesh Chand said: “We can qualify for the semifinals as we will come back strongly in our remaining games.”
