The TISI Sangam School of Nursing students were the first to join the crowd along the main street of Labasa to welcome the Fiji Sevens Team into the North.

Decked out in their blue uniform and Fijian flags, students and teachers set the tone for the parade as they danced and cheered their hearts out.

School director Eleni Kata said the school had taken their time off to watch the historic match on live television and were elated to be a part of the once in a lifetime celebration.

“We had to seek the school board for their approval to include the students in the celebration and they gave it,” Ms Kata.

“We are so very happy to witness the arrival of the Fiji Sevens heroes.”

Ms Kata said their staff and students were ardent fans of the team and the achievement meant a lot to them.

A third year student at the school, Mereisi Ovini said she was blessed to be part of such an event.

“We are so happy here in the North to be included in the program.”

The 21 year-old and her colleagues were chanting “Go Fiji Go” an hour before the Fiji team graced Labasa Town.
