Labasa Chris Wasasala celebrate with his team mates for scoring the 3rd goal.

The Ba football side could not compete against young players that resulted in their bowing out of the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Ba finished third in Group B and the side are going for serious overhaul as they prepare for the Vodafone Premier League and the Courts Inter-District Championship.

Ba manager Arvind Singh said they could not compete against young players in the tournament.

“The young players were fast and we lacked fitness that resulted in our loss,” he said.

“Also we didn’t prepare as a team as most of our players were in the Under-23 side playing in the Rio Olympics. Other teams prepared well like Labasa and Lautoka as they didn’t have players in the Olympics team. We need to regroup fast and improve on key areas.”

In the last pool match of the day, Ba suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Babasiga Lions. They couldn’t found the net against the spirited Labasa side.

“We need good strikers and this is one area we need to improve on. We will definitely improve to bring the results,” Singh added.
