Horsing Racing Resumes In Lekutu

The Bua Horse Racing Association gained gigantic support for reviving the Lekutu race course at Korokadi, Bua last Saturday.
The horse race competition took place after a lapse of eight years.
Association president Diven Prasad said the horse named Millie owned by the rider, Mohammed Sheik of Vakale settlement won the one-mile event.
“This horse was the best and received many praises from the crowd,” Prasad said.
“There were 20 horses that participated in the one-day race course competition. Sheik collected his prize money of $200.”
Prasad said the reason the association did not hold any race for the past eight years was due to some land lease issues.
“Once this was sorted out this year, with the help of the members the course was prepared and invitations were sent out to horse riders in Bua.
“This is the one and only horse race event organised in a big scale that attracts hundreds of people in the Northern Division.
“The funds raised from this event would be used to further developthe race course,” Prasad added.
