The Suva football team have sealed a semi-final spot in the 2016 Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament. The Gurjit Singh coached side held Vodafone Fiji FACT champions Nadi to a 0-0 draw in their pool decider. The Capital City side needed a draw to qualify.

Nadi missed the services of their top striker and captain, Napolioni Qasevakatini who was suspended after being red carded during their clash against Dreketi. Suva lifted the intensity in the second half but were denied by the goalkeeping skills of Vereti Dickson.

Big play: Dickson put up a gutsy performance with several spectacular saves to deny Suva any chances of scoring.

Star turn: Suva stuck to their game plan throughout the 90-minute encounter.

Comments: Suva coach Gurjit Singh: “Our aim was to qualify for the semi-final and the boys played a good game, we take one game at a time. We know the semi-final will be tough we will go back and prepare well.”

Nadi head coach Joseph Nand: “Even though we did not qualify for the semi-final but we are still happy that we have remained undefeated, we had our chances but Suva played a very tactical game. From here our next plan is to prepare for the League and the IDC and we want to thank our fans for their support.”
