Pretty Cool, Says Ratu Peni Raiani Latianara

Outgoing national 7s coach Ben Ryan believes the Fiji Rugby Union will make the right decision in choosing his replacement.
He made the comment at the Grand Pacific Hotel during the Team Fiji dinner last night.
“I think FRU has got some plans but I haven’t been involved with any of the conversation that they have had,” Ryan said.
“I’m sure they will make a good decision.”
Ryan was overwhelmed with the reception accorded by the people of Serua at the Uprising Beach Resort yesterday.
“It was very cool, the whole day was awesome,” Ryan said.
“I felt a bit overwhelmed by it all. I stayed in Serua the first day I came to Fiji.
“We based the team at Uprising and they accomodated me for free as the Fiji Rugby Union couldn’t afford to look after me.”
Ryan was grateful for the three acres of land given to him as a token of appreciation from the people of Serua along with his new name ‘Ratu Peni Raiani Laitianara’.
“And now I’ve got a nice long name, it’s all pretty cool,” he said.
“As soon as we go and have a look at it, we will definitely build something on it so we can have a home in Fiji and that will be cool.
“Apisai Domolailai said we can have a horse farm. And a few of the boys have asked to do different things with it, but it’s just great because I didn’t expect it. I didn’t expect the past three years to be as good as they have been.”
