This was confirmed by the Chairperson of Legal Aid Commission, Solicitor-General  Sharvada Sharma at the signing ceremony and launch of the Fiji Access to Justice Project at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday.

Mr Sharma said in the 2016-2017 budget, their plans were underway to open offices in Kadavu and Rotuma.

“We are also currently undertaking study to assess other locations where we need to have an office,” Mr Sharma said.

“At this stage, we are looking at Seaqaqa, Vunidawa and Keiyasi.”

Mr Sharma stated apart from the new offices throughout Fiji, the Commission had also expanded the range of services it provides.

“In the past few years, our services have expanded beyond assistance in criminal and family law to other civil law matters,” Mr Sharma said.

Currently the Legal Aid Commission now has 16 offices throughout Fiji including offices in Nausori, Nasinu, Suva, Navua, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Korovou, Labasa, Savusavu and Tavueni.
