Gold Delivered To Rawaca

Fiji national sevens rep Savenaca Rawaca received his gold medal at his home in Nasinu yesterday.
Rawaca returned home from Rio without a gold medal as he could not participate in the finals after he was injured.
Kauvesi received the medal on his behalf after Rawaca failed to show up at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) dinner at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on Monday.
“I rang him that I would be at his place and I got there early to see him receive it.
“I could see the emotion in his eyes,” he said.
“From a management’s point of view, we are very thankful that he was also recognised for putting in the hard yards.
“He was injured the day before the finals so for him to receive the medal that’s a great blessing and a testament to his character.
“We are thankful that FASANOC has seen that as well and got the medal for him and we in a way coming away from Rio knowing that one person hasn’t got their medal, it was an empty feeling for me personally as a manager.
“But presenting it to him in his home and his comfort zone shows that our Almighty God is watching over us and giving credit to where it is.”
