Police yesterday raided a home at Tavakubu Road in Lautoka  for drugs.

The double storey home was swarmed by more than 20 Police officers just after 7am.

The owner of the house and three of his friends were later taken to the Lautoka Police Station where they were still being questioned last night.

The raid was believed to have been carried out by officers from Suva and Lautoka.

A witness, who did not wish to be named, said the Police officers carried some bags out, but it was still not confirmed last night whether they contained drugs.

He said the owner lived by himself in the bottom flat while the top flat was rented out.

The owner’s ex-wife is believed to be in Australia, but a witness said while he lived alone, friends used to visit him.

Police spokesperson  Ana Naisoro confirmed the raid, but could not release further details because she was still waiting for information to be sent from Lautoka.
